  As prosperity grew in Liverpool, the prosperous began wanting to move away from the town centre and dock area and built fine houses and villas in outlying areas such as this which was laid out in 1801.

  Wonderful how these places were always given fancy sounding names like the Court or the Gardens. The reality of the slums was a communal toilet at the far end, the communal water pump which was often switched on for less than an hour a day, and all the kids with bare feet.
