The Folly and the Folly Gardens were situated on the corner of Islington and Christian Street. It was a tall eight storied building with a magnificient view built by Mr Gibson in 1785.

Given the lack of green spaces in those days, Folly Gardens was a rarity much frequented by Liverpool people and its location, at the time, was very much 'in the countryside'.
